A fun exercise! 10 in 10

Yesterday I took an assignment proposed on a photography forum to take 10 pictures in 10 minutes. Doesn't seem hard but it is definitely a challenge to get 10 different images in a short amount of time. It forced me to look at my surroundings a bit differently, just looking for a more creative shot. I actually went out back, behind the farm, where there is a TON of junk! It's actually in the process of getting hauled away so it was a great opportunity to find some hidden treasures before it is all gone. Junk is, after all, a photographer's dream! I don't think any of my images would win any competitions; I'm under no illusions about that! But it was a great exercise and a couple of the images I really like! Hope you enjoy seeing our farm...Happy Friday!!

I took the next two just seconds apart...but took a step to the right to get rid of the sunflare. I LOVE sunflare and actually like the first image...but really like the second image as well...

An abandoned swing set...

And one in color...last shot of the 10 minutes!

(p.s. I know there are 11 images but I wanted to show the difference in the two barbed wire shots...:))

Ready for SPRING!

Took the kids out last night with these cute little umbrellas...they thought they were going to blow away holding on to them! I think we are all ready for spring...and some rain would be lovely! Hope this one puts a smile on your face today!!!

Just for fun...

I love taking pictures of my kids. That's what drew me to photography. I wanted better "snaps" of my kids. I always loved what I got from our photographer, but it was the pictures in between I was never happy with. I love snapshots and realize that not every picture has to be a portrait. We need those images that tell the story of our lives, of our day-to-day routines, and it helps when they are in focus!

Hope you have had a great week! Tomorrow's FRIDAY!!

Calling all 2010 Graduates!

I know it seems way too early to start working with 2010 graduates (especially for the moms of those students!) but I would like to do mini sessions with my senior reps in March/April so they have a chance to earn their print credits before their full session in the late summer/early fall. Reps receive 2 free sessions, can earn $$ in print credits, receive a free 5x5 brag book and rep cards to hand out to all their friends. Contact me at info@brookejantzphotography.com for your application! I will be accepting one boy and one girl from each local school. Applications will be accepted through the end of March!

Happy Valentine's Day!

It's been a busy week! I bought these flowers last weekend in hopes of getting some gorgeous images to share with all of you this past week. I just never had time to get to them! I am going to print a few of these for my bedroom...the walls are a bit bare, yet! Orchids are my favorite flower...just something so graceful and stunning about them. Bold and tender. Here are a few I took this morning...(I've GOT to get a macro lens!)

Stevie+Andrew...the Engagement

I've known Stevie for a couple of years...met her when she was singing with our own Barry Ward and Travis was playing bass for him. She is a very talented musician and has plans to make it big-time. Along came Andrew...and together I think they will make it far! I had a blast photographing them on Saturday...super fun couple, willing to try everything I threw at them! I can't wait to photograph their wedding this summer in Colorado!

Stevie and Andrew...I hope you enjoy your sneak peek! I'll have your gallery ready soon!

Emma's turn

Miss Emma got her hair chopped yesterday and donated it to Locks of Love...so proud of her! She really wanted to keep that long, stringy mess but agreed to do it when we talked about donating it to someone who needed it more. She swears she's going to grow it back out. We'll see. But after the cut, we went to snap a few images, and, as always, Emma had lots of ideas on how she wanted to pose. It's so hard to get her to act naturally in front of the camera...and even harder to get a natural smile! But we worked it out and we both ended up having fun, especially on the old caboose!

Carter is gonna be a heartbreaker...

I love my little boy and am so proud of him! I think he has the most tender heart and is going to be a really neat kiddo. I am excited to see what God has planned for his life; I know it is something special. I had fun getting him in front of the camera yesterday...he complained a bit about the chilly wind but he was a trooper and made my heart melt with his poses. He knows how to work the camera!

Miss Maddie...Ready for Valentine's Day!

I took Maddie and Carter out this morning for a few Valentine's pictures. We got Maddie this rain jacket and boots a few weeks ago and she loves them! She calls them her Santa boots for some reason! I will post a few of Carter probably tomorrow. And hopefully I can get some of Emma before long!

Hope you are having a great day!

I'm hoping to get my kids to take some Valentine's pictures this week so hopefully I'll have something new to post soon. I also have a fun session on Saturday which I'm very much looking forward to! I just had to share this shot of Mr. C from last week...I almost have your gallery ready!! Isn't this the cutest thing? I love baby yawns!
